Leonov’s Glove by Damian Magee, as part of the ‘Toilet Light Box Show’

Can be seen in the toilet at Basement Project Space from January 14th till February 13th 2010

This work references the myth that astronaut Alexei Leonov lost a glove during the first spacewalk.

The single glove is amongst the most common of objects to be found lying in public streets and parks: lost and abandoned, separated from a partner that together provide warmth, comfort and protection.

The notion that a single glove drifts aimlessly through space speaks of the extent of human detritus, while evoking a sense of the infinite tragedy of personal loss.

Channel and cleanse the Spirit through a premeditated expulsion.
