April Gertler presents: Prisoner of Damp Patches
Exhibition continues until Thursday 10th Feb. Opening times: 12:00 – 17:00
American Artist, April Gertler utilizes a variety of variety of media in her work including collage, drawing and photography. Though her works tend to be small in scale they pack a powerful punch in addressing aspects of everyday life – inner dialogues, moments and details the artist sees, hears or considers as she moves though her day. Her works are a mirror of the quotidian, but taken …together, they also point to larger themes running through her oeuvre: female empowerment; the meaning of time; the complex dynamics of intimate relationships; the anonymity of urban life, mobility and also globalization.
Gertler currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She is currently in residence at the Guesthouse – a part of the Cork Artist Collective. Prisoner of Damp Patches is April Gertler’s first solo exhibition in Ireland. She is also Director and Founder of Picture Berlin – a hybrid artist residency/art academy concentrating on issues in contemporary photography and art. Special thanks to Cork Arts Collective and Guesthouse, Cork.
This exhibition will form part of ‘All My Lovin’ photography festival taking place in Cork city.
